Several friends have had very difficult news lately, the kind that makes a shrinking stock 
portfolio seem like small potatoes. So this post is dedicated to them in awareness of the sweetness of small pleasures, some of which are solitary and some best shared with those we love.

Thanks for this meditation. I love the Steichen. I think that those of us who grew up with these images, as well as the reality of snowy winters, forever associate them with both the warmth and comfort of staying-in on winter evenings and the thrill of being out in the snow on those impossibly quiet nights.
